![]() ![]() I plan on placing this scene into my old "Kill Bill - Shogun Assassin's Cut" for anyone that's interested - I'll try to upload and release it later this week. (Edit: Keep in mind that YouTube compression makes the video look worse than it will in my final edit) ![]() I watermarked it to keep myself out of trouble with youTube (hopefully) and so that nobody can easily rip the original scene or my upscaled version. I posted a video to youtube to show the differences between the DVD footage, as well as each pass of the upscaling so you can see the difference for yourselves. You might notice that most of the close-ups are sharper than the wider shots, which goes back to the DVD I have. It's not "true" 1080p, but Gaia HQ did a pretty good job of restoring the details that were lost from the first pass. This second pass took nearly 5 hours to restore 4 minutes of footage, but I think the results are pretty nice. For the second pass, I went with the "Gaia High Quality" algorithm and played around with the grain settings. For the first pass, I used the "Artemis Dehalo" algorithm which gave the video a sharper look, but with an airbrushed appearance that would not be any good for my cut of Kill Bill. ![]() My solution was to run the scene through Topaz not once, but TWICE just to see what would happen. Everything I tried with Topaz wasn't giving me very great results. The file only took up 1 layer so it was just 4gb when it could have been closer to 7gb with better video quality. I was always planning to upscale the scene, but I was pretty disappointed with the video quality of the disc. I recently ordered the original uncut Japanese DVD of Kill Bill volume 1 so I could upscale the Crazy 88 fight into 1080p.
